Missed an interview with a director bc of medical emergency … Is it over?
I’m in the middle of interviewing with a parent company (referral from their sub). I was scheduled to talk to a director last Friday a.m. (remote role)
Last Thursday night I ended up in ER with severe leg swelling/edema (suggested to rule out a blood clot, per chiropractor and fam ER nurse). I emailed the Director and the two people I already interviewed with right when I got home ~11:30 p.m. Thurs to cancel the Friday slot (still in a ton of pain, trouble walking, mentally unwell, etc.) Kept message professional, said I just got back from the ER, offered to reschedule for this past Monday or Tues., apologies for short notice. Timing sucked, haven’t been in ER since 2018, NEVER swelled up like this, truly scary.
It’s now Friday (a full week later) and I haven’t heard back. I was going to follow up Wed., but a few other negative surprises happened Tues. night, and throughout the week, so I’ve been in a mental lag, wtf is happening.
Also I gave them my avail in that first email, and I didn't want to seem pushy while they were interviewing other candidates. But now I’m worried that by waiting this long to check in again, I look flaky, or like I'm not interested.
Should I reach out today, or just wait until Monday morning, reset the week? Or did I blow it? Anyone else been in a similar situation? Appreciate any advice.
