Private Preview: Approval Activity in Fabric Pipelines — Sign Up!

We’re opening up a Private Preview for a new Approval activity in Microsoft Fabric Pipelines, and we’d love feedback from the community.

This activity lets you pause a pipeline and wait for a decision before continuing — bringing governance, business checks, and sign‑off directly into your data workflows.

What does the Approval activity do?

With this activity, you can:

• Add an approval step anywhere in a pipeline
• Pause execution until an approver approves or rejects the request
• Branch logic based on outcome (Approved / Rejected / Timed out)
• Review and take action directly from the Pipelines Monitoring experience
• Introduce human‑in‑the‑loop steps into automated pipelines, with the option to automate approvals via a webhook‑based API

Who is this preview for?

You’ll likely benefit if you:

• Run business‑critical or production pipelines
• Need validation or sign‑off before downstream steps run
• Have governance or compliance requirements (finance, publishing, data access, inventory, etc.)
• Build scheduled or multi‑step pipelines that require human oversight
• Enjoy testing early features and sharing feedback with the product team
