AITAH when got mad then I snapped when a friend's belief was being pushed onto me

So I (24F) was talking to my friend (26F) about a guy I’ve been dealing with since December. We’ve been taking things slow, getting to know each other, nothing rushed.

Lately though, I noticed his effort dropped. If I don’t text first, we don’t talk. I tested it once and we went two weeks without speaking until he finally messaged me.

So yeah, I was already side-eyeing that.

Anyway, I mentioned to my friend that due to some circumstances, I might not be able to go on a trip anymore.

She immediately says:

The ticket is over $1k.

I told her:

To me, asking a man I’m not even in a relationship with to spend that kind of money comes with unspoken expectations, and I don’t want to feel like I owe anybody anything.

I even said I’d be fine if he offered to help with smaller things like where I stay or activities, but I’m not about to ask for a whole ticket.

That’s when she started going in.

She told me:

  • I’m stupid
  • My mindset is why I “get nowhere in dating”
  • The only guys I attract are “garbage”
  • So I might as well get something out of them

At that point, I tried to de-escalate.

I told her:

That was me basically saying let’s agree to disagree and move on.

She kept going.

So I said again:

Still didn’t stop.

Then I said:

That was my second clear signal to drop it.

She still kept pushing.

At this point, I’ve given her three separate chances to stop and she ignored all of them.

So yeah… I snapped.

I got loud, I started cussing, and I basically checked her for disrespecting me and not knowing when to stop.

And honestly?

Because to me, it wasn’t even about the ticket anymore.

It was about:

  • not respecting my boundaries
  • calling me out my name
  • trying to force her beliefs onto me

Also, to make it worse, she tried to downplay the situation by saying:

When I’ve told her multiple times:
I’ve been talking to him since December.

So now I’m irritated because not only is she being disrespectful, she’s not even listening.

Now I’m sitting here wondering:

Was I wrong for snapping after giving multiple warnings?

And am I actually “stupid” for not wanting to ask a guy (who already shows inconsistent effort) to spend $1k+ on me?

Or is she just out of line?

TL;DR:
Friend told me to ask a guy I’m casually talking to for $1k+ for a plane ticket. I said no because I’m not comfortable with that. She called me stupid and kept pushing even after I told her multiple times to drop it. I snapped and don’t regret it. Now I’m wondering if I handled it wrong.
