First time playing Bioshock 1 Original

I've decided that today I'm going to start my journey in the Bioshock saga, starting with the original PC version of the first game. I've already configured it according to the PC Gaming Wiki.

Is there anything I should keep in mind before I start playing? Whether it's lore or any tips? I plan to start on hard difficulty.
