8 years of chronic scalp itch/crawling sensation
Age: 38 (Aug 21 1987)
Sex: M
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 145 lbs
Race: White/Italian
Primary complaint: Non-stop scalp itching/crawling
Duration: 8 years
Medications: None
Drink/Smoke/Rec Drugs: Never
In 2018, I was found to have acid reflux up to my vocal cords and had a lot of weird symptoms going on, that is when the itching started (due to hiatal hernia). I knew it was something internally because my diet was impeccably clean at the time. I have seen about 10 dermatologists over the years, and all of them concluded is not any type of skin/fungal issue and is probably some type of neurological issue.
I have tried every shampoo, every pill etc and the only thing that made any type of difference was doxycycline, but that is an antibiotic that I shouldn't be taking every day.
I saw a doctor recently but they wanted to do Gabopentin, even though I already took that and it had no results.
My quality of life is bad because literally 24/7 my life revolves around fighting itching my scalp. I am desperate for what this could be and what I can do to try and solve it. I've gotten multiple biopsies that also yielded no conclusions. I don't know what to do, it is clearly something underlying and it is only on my scalp where the itching/crawling sensation occurs. Even when I was younger, it would be localized in one specific spot on my scalp but now it is basically everywhere and I can barely last more than like 20 seconds without having the sensation return.
Please help.
