I feel like people don’t respect me and I can’t get over it

NSFWContent Warning: Suicidal Thoughts / Self Harm

I’ve been dealing with something for a while and it’s starting to affect how I see myself.

A few months ago, I was in a military training environment (kind of like a group setting), and over time people started to joke about me and not take me seriously. At first, I didn’t react. I would just laugh it off or stay quiet. But I think that made things worse, and they slowly started to see me as someone they could mess with.

Now the problem is not even them anymore — it’s me.

I keep replaying those moments in my head, thinking “why didn’t I respond differently?” or “why did I act so weak?”. It makes me feel like I’m not confident enough and maybe people everywhere see me that way.

I’ve also noticed this pattern in other places (school, part-time job), where I feel like I’m being underestimated. I’m starting to lose confidence in myself, not just socially but overall.

I don’t think I’m a bad person or completely incapable, but I feel like I lack presence and don’t know how to carry myself properly.

Has anyone gone through something similar?
How do you rebuild confidence and stop caring so much about how people saw you in the past?
