The feeling of “I told you so” has been sitting heavy today.

Miscellany

For YEARS I brought up concerns about my SS11 behavior and it was often dismissed. It caused a lot of strife in my marriage and my husband would minimize the issues, give excuses like “he’s just a kid” or “he isn’t trying to manipulate” or my personal favorite “I’m just trying to give his perspective”

This led to years of resentment in my role.

It’s all come to fruition as this year the behaviors have escalated and my SS11 school and administration is bringing these concerns to my husband and bio mom.

My husband has since made big changes and sees all of the issues that I brought up, but it feels like he’s too late. That I was left alone for so long feeling like the bad guy when I pointed out behaviors that now I’m sitting here with the thought “took you guys long enough” to see SS has serious issues.

Bio mom was no better, she often said it was “preteen boy behavior”

My previous posts I kind of talk about the stuff that has happened.

The latest incident? He was teasing a girl in class repeatedly bullying her and stomped on her hand…he even admitted to his teacher that it was on purpose and he was trying to be funny.

This isn’t what I wanted, and I truly wish my relationship with my SS could have been different.

I just feel like this sense of…why did it take so long? Why did I have to be the bad guy for such a long time, and to feel so alone.

I have completely stepped back from SS as I am pregnant with ours baby. But it just…it sucks. The whole situation. There is so much that has happened and I pointed it out years ago and no one took it seriously.

I feel grief, sadness, and some bitterness at the situation because I was often left with SS and his concerning behaviors.

I love my husband and he’s been so supportive throughout my pregnancy, he has turned a new leaf and is no longer Mr. nice guy. I’ve seen him change and really step up as a parent to SS. I think I’m just in my feels because I wish someone would acknowledge how hard it was for me to go through it all alone.

I guess I’m here to just vent about it because being a step parent is such a lonely role in general, now the rose coloured glasses have come off for the bio parents and I feel that the issues have become who SS is and will be much harder to turn around.
