Recommendations: Clients in the process of passing away

Theory / Technique :snoo_thoughtful:

I'm curious to hear from you all, specifically those who've worked with clients through the end of their worldly existence. I've had conversations with other licensed clinicians but many have not had these types of situations arise in their work.

What do you keep in mind and explore in the last sessions with clients who are preparing to pass, those in the final stages of a terminal illness or in a right to die situation?

We've discussed having releases on file for contact with the client's close family/friends to confirm their passing or the same people reaching out to notify the clinic of the client's passing. I'm curious what topics you might bring into those final sessions and how you handle countertransference.

Thank you!
