ProMark Hickory Sticks Feel Too Dry

I rarely buy sticks, as I am not a heavy hitter and don't break my sticks often. The last time I bought sticks was about a year ago, when I bought Promark 7a hickory sticks. Recently, I had to replenish stock and also wanted to try out some of the 5a sticks. The ones that came in the mail were super dry, though. They are a little rough, partly because of how dry they are, and the weight just seems wrong.

With my basses or guitars, super dry wood requires some oil that's safe for the wood. Otherwise the necks are prone to warping and they feel terrible. Should I hydrate the sticks with some lemon oil or something? Or will that throw off the balance too badly?
