I was embarrassed to look in the mirror. Here’s what changed.
Two years ago I was exhausted, out of shape, and quietly embarrassed about what I had become physically. I was also a pastor. I was supposed to have it together. I didn’t.
The diets weren’t working. The medication wasn’t working. And I kept trying to fix the outside without dealing with the inside.
The shift wasn’t a new program. It was a decision — stop chasing perfect, start choosing better. Every single day. No finish line. Just forward.
Since then I’ve lost 100lbs and finished an Ironman 70.3.
But here’s what I actually learned:
We silo everything. Faith goes in one box. Fitness in another. Relationships. Work. Mental health. We treat them like separate problems with separate solutions. They’re not. They never were.
When my faith got stronger, my discipline got stronger. When my body got healthier, my mind got clearer. When I stopped performing for people and started pursuing purpose, everything started moving together.
I couldn’t find a space that held all of that at once. So I built one.
It’s called Seek First Community. It’s a web app right now, iOS coming soon. It’s for people who are done compartmentalizing and want to grow — faith, fitness, and everything in between — together.
We’re in early beta and I’m looking for the first real users. People who get it. People who are tired of the silos.
If that’s you, I’d love to have you in. Link in the comments.
