The Claws of Trump's MAGA Cult Sink Deep
Donald Trump has now ousted the second important woman from his Cabinet. Last month it was DHS head Kristi Noem demoted to a nebulous "special envoy" position. Now it is Attorney General Pam Bondi sent packing all the way out of the administration. Any honest appraisal of their job performances would show that they were doing exactly what they were appointed to do. Noem instituted a cruel deportation scheme and expanded ICE, turning it into a private army of goons that Trump could send in to intimidate and even terrorize American cities. Bondi erased the traditional boundaries between the Justice Department and the White House. She turned the DOJ into a weapon against Trump's political "enemies". And now they are both gone because Trump feels they were making him look bad.
By any definition of that old expression, Noem and Bondi are "women scorned". So ... Hell! Where is the fury? Here is what Kristi Noem said after being canned:
“Thank you, u/POTUS Trump, for appointing me as the Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas. u/SecRubio and u/SecWar are incredible leaders, and I look forward to working with them closely to dismantle cartels that have poured drugs into our nation and killed our children and grandchildren.”
Kristi, he just took away your luxury jets and cosplay photo ops. And you are thanking him for crumbs? Wow. Pam Bondi actually went on at greater length, but her response boiled down to this:
"I remain eternally grateful for the trust that President Trump placed in me to Make America Safe Again."
C'mon, Pam. No job in the private sector - your proposed landing spot - is as important or powerful as your now former position as Attorney General of the United States of America. Show some teeth!
Sadly, both women are going quietly into the night. While he was in the very act of kicking them out, they were twisting around to lick his boot one last time. Apparently, once Trump and MAGA sink their claws in, wriggling out is nigh-near impossible. There's no sense in saying good riddance to these two. Trump will just replace them with other minions that will continue to put his authoritarian wishes above the law and the Constitution.
And that's the way it is ...
