The 40 Greatest NBA Players of All-time

Here is my updated (4/26) list for The 40 Greatest NBA Players of All-time:

Note #1:  I don’t rank any athletes under the age of 33 in my team sports rankings (see discussion “Minimum age for an athlete in GOAT discussions or voting?” at r/sportsgoats) because I find it too speculative.  Hence, that is the only reason you do not see Nikola Jokić and Giannis Antetokounmpo on my list.  Check back in 2 years since they are both 31.  Feel free to put them on your list.

Note #2: The 1st number is Championship(s) Won, the 2nd number is MVP Shares with 5 points for a win, 3 for 2nd, 2 for 3rd, 1 for 4th place.  The 3rd number is All-NBA (All-Pro) Shares with 3 points for 1st team and 1 point for 2nd team (both my formulas, calculated by ChatGPT).  I think these are very important stats because it shows whether and for how many years a player was one the top 5 players in the league – obviously an important criterion for a Top 40 player of all-time.

Note #3:  I find Bill Walton impossible to rank due to so many injuries so count him as my sole honorable mention.  My guess is that if he had a healthy career he would be in the Top 15.
