This is Mr. Winston C. Biscuits, my 1 1/2 year old menace. We just lost our elderly cat Lemmy (17yr old) a little over a week ago.

Before Lemmy passed we did the following for feeding schedules: Wet food for breakfast, free feeding dry food throughout the day, and wet food for dinner, and a small treat mid day. The reason we allowed free feeding/grazing of the dry food was because that was what Lemmy was used to and as he got older he didn’t really have the energy to eat more at a set time. So we let him graze when he felt like he was hungry.

I am wanting to change this now, while Mr. Biscuits is young and not set in his ways. I’d like to limit how much dry food he has access to and I’m thinking that the best way to do that because I work during the day (most days I work from home but there are times when I’m not here) would be a timed feeder that dispenses food. I am trying to prevent Mr. Biscuits from becoming obese. His breed tends to lean that way, and I don’t want him to have health problems as a result.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good timed feeder brands for dry food? I’d prefer one that can feed 2 cats at the same time, because I do plan on getting Mr. Biscuits a friend later this year after we’ve had time to grieve Lemmy. I’m thinking probably late summer or fall.

Or if you have another recommendation on how to go about this change, I would be open to it. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read and contribute.
