What's the current stance on applying for roles with the same company while you wait for interviews?

Its a risky subject due to it currently being a demand against the small supply market currently. This could be both beneficial or risky.

Also what's the opinion on sending a recruiter that same heads up that you applied for a few more? "hi just to let you know while I'm waiting for our next interview I filled out some more"
