Is it possible to exchange help for accommodation in Germany? (Ukraine, 20 y.o.)

Hello everyone,

I’m 20 years old and from Ukraine. I’m planning to move to Germany and I’m trying to understand what realistic options I have.

I was thinking about finding accommodation (a room or small place) in exchange for helping with house care, garden work, and other daily tasks in a private household.

My question is: is this kind of arrangement actually possible and legal in Germany? Has anyone had experience with something similar?

I had my own IT business in Ukraine, but now my focus is relocation and integration. I’m currently improving my English (planning to reach B2 soon) and then I want to start learning German and eventually study or work in Germany.

Also, if I receive financial support in the future, I’d be ready to contribute part of it.

I would really appreciate any advice, experiences, or guidance 🙏
