Is my academic background enough for a Master’s in Italy?

Hi everyone,

I’m interested in applying for a Master’s degree in Italy, but I’m not sure if my academic background is strong enough.

I’m an Algerian undergraduate student. I got an average of 12/20 in my first year (L1).

In my second year (L2), I was studying electronics, but I didn’t like the field, so I dropped out twice (which was counted as repeating the year).

After that, I switched to automation, and I successfully completed my L2 with an average of 12.40/20.

I’m currently in my third year (L3), and I got 12.35/20 in the first semester.

I would like to continue with a Master’s degree in the same field (automation).

As for English, I got a fairly good level in writing and understanding, but I still struggle with speaking.

Also, I’ve already spent a lot of money trying to study abroad since my first months at university, but unfortunately I’ve only faced setbacks (visa refusals, etc.). So I want to be more strategic this time.

Do you think my profile is good enough to apply in Italy?

Could my academic path (switching fields and repeating a year) be a problem?

And if possible, could you recommend some less selective universities, preferably located in the north of Italy or closer to France/Switzerland?

Thanks in advance for your advice!
