How to gain an organic local following on social media? Marketing research?

I’m pondering opening a small business that sells an edible product within my local community. I have been researching to see if running this business through social media is viable (and perhaps it could one day change). I think it would be wise to start the socials up first and gain a local following to measure the reaction to my content and product. I don’t think I want to buy followers or anything like that, so how should I market to the locals and promote the social medias to gain attention?

I am not above:

• Sticking business cards/flyers on cars

• Handing out free samples

• Hanging flyers around town

• Advertising the business’s socials on my car

• Collabs with local creators (if I can find any)

• Etc.

Any ways to promote my business socials w/o the legwork? Any tips, ideas, or advice? It’s greatly appreciated!!
