Men with a working gf/wife. How do you manage finances?

I’m a 30-year-old female earning ₱35–40k, and my partner earns ₱50–60k a month. Right now, we’re not living together, but he stays here sometimes for 1–2 weeks and covers most of our expenses.

Last time, he told me he would pay for my electric bill (₱2k) because he had been staying here for quite a while.

I’m just wondering how do couples usually manage their finances? Is it 50/50?

I’ve been living alone for 6 years, so I’ve always handled everything myself. Now, I’m not sure how it works when you start living together. I feel shy when I don’t have a share, and I don’t know how to communicate when he insists on paying.
