Do you apply for other jobs within the same company while you wait for interviews?

Currently awaiting a second interview. Id love to know the current day opinion on applying for other roles while you wait.

Also what's the opinion on sending a recruiter that same heads up that you applied for a few more? "hi just to let you know while I'm waiting for our next interview I filled out some more"

yay or nay?
