The number one negative effect I see even if we take away all their other harmful doctrines

The byproduct of believing that your religion or group is the one and only true path, with an exclusive relationship with God, is that you inevitably develop a problem with those within your group who don’t take the belief system seriously.

Infact one sure way to know that someone takes the religion seriously is that they begin to harbour resentment for you for the sole reason that your meeting attendance/ field service stops or reduces drastically

Beyond that, they also begin to take issue with people outside the group who have heard their message and consciously choose not to adopt that way of life.

This is the number one negative effects I see even if we take away all their other harmful doctrines.

The problem with this kind of mindset is that it conditions people to harm others in the name of belief, wether emotionally(shunning) or physically (strapping explosives around your body to harm “infidels” in the name of God) I see no difference.
