Got into UCSD but reconsidering going

Hi all, I am a Dutch student who applied to go on exchange in the US. I had my eyes set on UCSB as I heard the social life and vibe was awesome but just heard I got into UCSD.

Looking up info about the uni itself en it’s social life/vibes o heard it’s also been called UC socially dead. And I just want to know, how bad is it?

I have heard people say it’s really academically focused and that it must be your priority. And most social life exists out of clubs or going out in the city.

I’m part of a Dutch form of fraternities and want to enjoy the ease of just chilling during the day with all sorts of people in a tightknit sort of community.

So tell it to me straight, is there any way of the picture in my head happening at UCSD without having to worry a lot about academics and/or going through hazing for most of my time there? Thanks!
