Door Latch Rubbing New Trim
Bought a new house and it came with the standard 2 1/2" base and trim, and I decided to start swapping it out for 6" finger-jointed pine. I’m using 4" finger-jointed pine for the door casings.
As I’ve been going through the house, I noticed that when I keep about a 1/4" reveal, the door latch keeps hitting the casing when the door closes and it’s marking up the trim. I’m assuming it’s because of the extra thickness compared to what was there before.
What do you guys normally do in this situation? I know there are strike plates that extend out, but honestly they don’t look right to me. Am I doing something wrong here, or is there a more standard fix for this?
