Meditation, it stills the mind and slows done incessant thoughts. Imagine the mind like a pond, with depression your pond is splashing about all over the place and you're suffering for it, mediation where you follow the breathe and try to focus on it alone gets to the core of this problem by gently sedating those thoughts that are terrorizing your pond. You cannot calm a splashing pond by trying to hit it aka thinking about ways to be happy because the very thing that gives you depression is the pond itself, you are trying to calm your mind with your mind, fighting fire with fire, stopping waves with an iron. The only way to calm a splashing pond is to leave it alone, it will relax eventually. Read this book to get a good understanding of it :)

Take it slow. Remember that you've only been off of them for a little while. Its going to seem like its been months and you might feel more depressed, but remember it will get easier.
