I built a VS Code extension that generates full production APIs from plain English - and v0.6 now includes deploy simulation + infra scanning
Hey all - solo dev here. I've been working on a VS Code extension called SwiftStack AI. It started as a plain-English -> API generator, but it's turning into more of a "developer intelligence" toolkit.
The core workflow:
Describe your schema -> pick a language/framework(FastAPI, Express, Spring, Gin, Rails, etc.) -> it generates models, routes, auth, tests, and Docker config.
The new stuff is what I'm most excited about:
• Zero-Downtime Deploy Simulator
Point it at your Dockerfiles, K8s manifests, Terraform, or CI/CD configs -> get a 0-100 safety score with ranked findings.
• Fix My Infra
Scans for missing healthchecks, hardcoded secrets, no-multi-stage builds, missing probes, insecure defaults. Streams corrected files.
• Performance Bottleneck Predictor
Detects N+1 queries, missing indexes, unbounded queries, sync I/O in hot paths.
• Explain This Error
Paste any stack trace -> get root cause, fix, and prevention steps.
• Architecture Evolution Advisor
Looks at codebase metrics and suggests what architectural move to make next.
Also includes: live health score in the status bar (exportable for CI), dependency vulnerability scanning, DB schema visualization, and a PR review agent.
83 installs in 4 days. Not huge, but I'm building in public and shipping fast.
If you try it, I'd love to know:
• What's useful?
• What's missing?
• What would make you keep it installed long-term?
You can find it by searching "SwiftStack AI" in the VS Code Marketplace.
