Broken hypodermic needle embedded in my back on vacation

fuck everything 🖕

Since my family doesn't want to hear me complain, I just wanted to share with you all because I am suffering.

It's so stupid and I fully brought this on myself out of pain-driven desperation. On the way to the airport my brain exploded with the worst migraine imaginable. I have marcaine and little insulin syringes for trigger point injections (which obviously is a bad idea and not something I should be doing). I guess the spasm in my trapezius was so severe that the entire needle broke off and disappeared without a trace. I was already in 10/10 pain and could barely think straight.

My husband maintained that I was imagining it, which was so enraging given that I saw it happen in the mirror and can still feel it, but there is no visual evidence. I didn't want to cancel our vacation so decided to go to urgent care upon arrival. So I left the hugely uncomfortable needle in my back for a very long flight and next day got an x-ray. Sure enough, big needle deeply buried.

However, they said I need a surgeon to remove it and to just leave it for the whole week and try to deal with once I return home. I don't even know how to go about finding a doctor to help me. I don't know what it's going to take to get it out.

I'm trying so hard not to obsess about it as my backpack pushes it deeper and deeper. I can feel it when I move my neck or arm. I'm so tempted to just start digging around my a knife and tweezers. I won't, but I want to. My migraine won't go away. This situation is ridiculous. Why does this shit always happen?? Just absurd.

My husband is mad at me for doing this to myself, just absolutely zero sympathy. Such an easy stance when you have never had a severe migraine, pain so bad you wish for death. If you know, you know.

So yeah, that's my vacation. I keep waking up after about 4 hours of sleep unable to fall back asleep. My brain feels sour and I'm so tired. I just can't seem to catch a break. And it's my daughter's 10th birthday today.

Thanks for hearing what I'm going through, just need a shoulder to cry on right now but have to put on a smile.
