bizarre tree that appeared out of nowhere in the window

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but some strange things have been happening near my house.

I live in a somewhat remote area with a lot of woods around.

This morning I noticed a tree in my yard that I'm pretty sure wasn't there before. I know that sounds stupid, but I feel like I would have noticed a whole tree.

I asked my neighbor about it and he said the tree has always been there, but he's been acting kind of strange lately.

A few days ago he offered me some fruit he said he picked in the forest. They were very sweet, almost too sweet.

Since then, his eyes have been kind of red and he keeps insisting that nothing strange is happening around here.

My cat also doesn't want to go near the window anymore. He just sits there staring outside like there's something there, but I don't see anything.

I don't know if I'm just being paranoid, but something feels wrong here.
