Hardware store quality

Went to Home Depot in Port Chester this morning and quality was low, staff unhelpful, and prices high. Most of the time they didn’t have what I needed in stock. Any small hardware stores anyone can recommend so I never have to go back there? I’ll take gardening and gardening tool store recommendations as well. Thanks
