2D IK
I’m honestly hitting a wall right now.
I’ve set up most of my project correctly and implemented nearly all the systems I planned. I’ve been using a prototype player character, and from the beginning I wanted to integrate IK. Now that I’m updating the character visually, I’ve run into a major issue: I can’t flip the IK character properly.
The only method that works is using negative scale, but that completely breaks the IK setup.
I’ve looked everywhere for solutions. Some suggest using IK only as an animation helper and disabling it during gameplay, others recommend using add-ons, and some mention rendering the character through a viewport and flipping it as a sprite—but I don’t understand how that would work with things like shooting projectiles.
Disabling IK during gameplay isn’t an option for me since I need dynamic aiming and proper gun handling. One of the main reasons I chose IK was to avoid creating separate holding animations for every weapon.
So, does anyone know a reliable way to fix this?Or do I need to implement my own IK solver?
I’m also open to suggestions for a different approach or style for a top-down shooter if this path isn’t practical.
