Flying with cards?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I had a couple questions about experiences flying with sealed cards? Im flying international tomorrow and have a bunch of loose Chinese 30th anniversary first partner packs, 1 gem pack booster box, and about 30 other random loose packs. I was planning to just check them since my carry on is pretty full, and have wrapped them in some bags/tshirts in a hard shell suitcase. I know its possible the baggage gets lost, but realistically that happens rarely and I have a tracking tag in the suitcase. I've heard that if you have large booster boxes they'll sometimes flag those and open them up/damage them. Is that just for carry on or checked bags as well? They're all for my personal collection, so I'm going to open them anyways, but I don't want them damaged.

Basically, since most of my packs are loose, is this something I need to worry about? And any pros/cons of checked vs carry on? Any advice would be much appreciated!
