Looking at buying 2016 XC60 - any tips?
UK based for context.
So, with a heavy heart I am moving on from my 2010 V50 1.6 drivE. It has 170k miles on the clock, everything is getting a little rattlier than I’m happy with considering my young family and I have no desire/inclination/experience/time to do the required repairs myself any more. It has at least £600 of repairs and I’m sure that someone else will give it a fine home in its retirement. Provided I sell it privately of course - if I trade it the poor thing will just get scrapped.
So - her replacement. I’m eyeballing a number of XC60s, specifically D4 variants for the fuel economy, and aiming at the pre-2017 refresh because I **hate** the iPad-style console.
I have a deposit on to view a 2016 D4 lux nav with auto gearbox. It has 60k miles on the clock, but no real driver-convenience extras (no cameras, no adaptive cruise control/lane keeping etc). Fairly “stock”.
So, my questions:
* What do I need to look out for? Belts are a ten year thing - so this is a definite question. But anything else? It’ll come with a full MOT and 3yr AA warranty.
* is an AA warranty worth the paper it is written on?
* Any common points of failure with an XC60 of this vintage? Not just talking “motor safety” issues, but electronics etc.
Thanks folks - really appreciate the input here. This will be the fourth Volvo in my life, and every single one I’ve driven to the scrap heap. I don’t intend on selling up quickly with this one, so it needs to be my car for the next five-ten years.
