Psychology at Sheffield or Cardiff?

UCAS Bread 🍞 (Offers)

Hello, I’m having a hard time deciding whether to firm up Cardiff or Sheffield for a BSc in Psychology and would really appreciate some advice.

My predicted grades are ABB, but realistically, I think I might get ABC (I’m especially worried about Biology). Sheffield requires ABB, while Cardiff requires BBB, so I’m not sure how risky each option is.

Cardiff is ranked higher for psychology (around 7th), whereas Sheffield is around 16th for psychology but has a stronger overall university ranking. The big difference between subject ranking and overall ranking makes it hard for me to decide which matters more.

I’m also really interested in gaining experience, as I’m considering going into clinical psychology in the future. Cardiff offers a course with a placement year built in, whereas at Sheffield, I would need to achieve around 60% in my first year and then apply competitively for placements.
However, Sheffield's placement has more options, such as business.

I’m also thinking about the cities:
I would also like to know which city is safer and better to live in!
I haven't been to Sheffield, but I like how green it is.

If anyone has experience with Sheffield or Cardiff’s psychology placements specifically, I’d really appreciate hearing what kinds of roles people actually get and how supported the process is.
Would also like to know how it is studying psychology at either uni!

Thanks so much!
