Renting a car in Ireland

My husband and I are going to the west coast of Ireland in July and are renting a car for the week. I’m looking at various options (all automatic) and am curious what type of additional protection package/insurance we would need. We have both been abroad numerous times and this is our second trip to Ireland but we have never driven on the opposite side of the road before and I’m a little nervous. I see videos of people driving on the Wild Atlantic Way and it makes me want to get a premium coverage package, but that also drives the cost up quite a bit! Additionally, are there any rental companies out of Shannon Airport people would recommend?
