Can I wear clip on earrings on freshly pierced lobes?

I used to wear clip on hoops (50mm), but they hurt really bad and left dents in my ears for a few days after, thus I decided to get my earlobes pierced. It's been 6 weeks since I've pierced them, and I know it is too early to switch them out for hoops this big. However, I badly want to wear them as I feel that it completes my look.

Is it weird to wear my clip-ons while still having my current ear piercing in? Will the irritation and the cheap metals from the clip-ons cause my actual piercing to swell or get infected? Also will it look strange to people? Sorry if this question is weird, it is my first piercing.
