How is the Xbox community for this game?

Thinking of giving this game another chance (I got completely lost and overwhelmed when it first came out and didn't touch it again). I'm also trying to convince my friend to start playing again who has far more knowledge than me.

Are there many players on Xbox as I believe there isn't cross play?

I'd also like to play some kind of Cleric/healer. Would that be possible if I'm playing primarily by myself? Tia.
