Need help/workflow (n8n + AI): Automating the sorting and archiving of large folders (DWG / PDF) to OneDrive locally

Hi everyone,

I've been tasked with managing and archiving very large technical folders (project handover documents), and doing it manually is an absolute nightmare. I'm looking to automate the sorting process, but I have zero budget ($0) and I'm a complete beginner with tools like n8n.

My problem:

I receive messy, unorganized folders containing a mix of:

Very heavy technical drawings (.dwg)

Administrative documents in PDF (Quotes, Handover protocols, Contracts, etc.)

The goal (What I want to build):

I'd like to set up an n8n workflow (hosted locally on my PC so I'm not restricted by file size limits) that monitors an "Incoming" folder and does the following:

If it's a .dwg: Send it directly to a "Plans" subfolder in OneDrive (no AI analysis needed).

If it's a .pdf: Use a free OCR (like Tesseract) and a free AI API (Groq or Gemini) to read the text, identify the document type (Protocol, Quote, etc.), and extract the company name and the date.

Rename the PDF cleanly based on a strict naming convention.

Check if the final destination folder or the company folder already exists on my OneDrive. If not, create it dynamically.

Move the renamed file to the correct location.

Where I need your advice:

Templates: Do you have any links to pre-built workflows (n8n templates) that handle dynamic nested folder creation on OneDrive with existence checks?

Local vs Cloud processing: When handling DWG files of several hundred megabytes via a local n8n instance pushing to OneDrive, is there a risk of timeouts? Is there a specific node I should prioritize for large file transfers?

AI Prompts: Do you have any tips on structuring the JSON prompt for the AI so it's 100% accurate at extracting data from scanned PDFs (which are sometimes of poor quality)?

Any help, code snippets, or templates would be amazing. Thanks in advance for your time!
