Cloud Backup is impossible to setup
As per title states. I cannot get Emudeck's Cloud backup properly setup, I ran into multiple issues that I just gave up entirely and used syncthing (even it's not backing it up fully because some of the saves are on symlinks):
-
Samba doesn't let you set the share name when connecting, it's just ip, username and password. Tried all combinations to try and recognize the share but that wouldn't go through. Heck, there's no error codes as to why it didn't even go through, it would just say that it's set up. For a samba connection, you would have at least be given the option to at least set the share name as well.
-
SFTP wouldn't go through as well. Like the first option, it just doesn't have error codes as to why it wouldn't work. Was it network connection? Uname/password wrong? Missing emudeck folder (which i had by the way)? Just says that CloudSave is now setup.

Even trying the recommended providers (pcloud, dropbox), I'd click on setup, it would just open up the Discover store on SteamOS to install Firefox, which is already installed. I even made sure in the settings that Firefox is selected. Heck, I even tried Emudeck setting the browser to MS Edge and yet it still redirected me to Discover to install Firefox.
The old Emudeck backup worked perfectly when it was still being rolled out/in beta, now when it was updated to this version none of it would work at all.
It's almost like the devs wanted you to pay their patreon for their cloudsync no setup offering. I bet that would've made my problems go away, but I wanted my saves at a location where I control.
Yes, It's definitely possible that I didn't RTFM, but there was no official guide in the first place.
