Ended things on a beautiful note due to circumstances. It’s been less than 2 months no contact and he reached out with a kind message

Hi. I was abroad for two years and met an increíble person a couple months before my contract was up. I fell in love with him and I’d argue his feelings were the same without naming them. I left the country 5 months ago, and we were in contact up until around Valentine’s Day. We would video call every week or so, and it was great because it felt like nothing had changed. Except obviously it had, I left calls sad and disappointed that I wasn’t his person anymore and that i was having a hard time managing the new relationship.

We had many honest, open conversations and agreed to go no contact and he would respect my decision to do so. Yesterday he sent a message

“Sending you the warmest love and hello. Incredible person you are. Lots of gratitude for your unconditional love, care and truth.

Mean this message with the purest of gratitude. I hope your path is now a lot more easier and more clearer.”

I got anxious when I saw it, but of course I’m so happy to see it at the same time. I think about him daily and this sucks. Part of me just wants to call to talk and ask where it came from & also be like what happened to respecting boundaries?

Guidance on what to do next would be appreciated. Thanks
