Pain still there

The surgery (partial nephr) was on March 23, and today is April 4. He still has pain, worse at night than during the day. Two days ago he had indigestion and vomited all night. Doctor confirmed it s not from the surgery, wounds look nice. His abdomen is still hard in the area of the operation. Are all of these things normal?
