Problem with curse

what does curse ACTUALLY DO to Captains? I know it does damage over time, but when trying to find the "taking away immunities" part of curse on Captains it just doesn't work. im wondering how it effects Captains apart from DOT and if theirs a build up or SOMETHING to help me use curse 😭😭😭
