How do you safely deal with IG personal shoppers in Brunei?

Hi everyone, just looking for general advice.

My family recently had a difficult experience purchasing a luxury bag through an Instagram personal shopper. We were initially assured it was authentic and purchased in-store, but later had trouble obtaining proper proof of purchase and clear documentation.

A report has already been made and we understand recovery may be difficult.

I wanted to ask the community what precautions you usually take before transferring money to personal shoppers, especially for expensive items, so others can avoid similar situations.
