Why the "Static PDF" is killing live production (and how StageOn is fixing it).
As we get closer to our official launch, I’ve been thinking a lot about the biggest "pain point" in our industry: Communication. We’ve all been there—sending a rider weeks in advance, only to arrive at the venue and find out the local crew is looking at "v1_final" while you’re already on "v4."
That’s why we’re building StageOn Premium. I wanted to share a look at the features we’re finalizing to solve this:
1. The End of the PDF Era: Live Sharing Links The core of StageOn isn't just "drawing" a plot; it's the Live Link. Instead of sending a file that dies the second you hit "send," you share a dynamic link.
- If a keyboard player adds a stereo feed 2 hours before the show, you update it in the app and the engineer sees it instantly on their tablet. One link. One source of truth.
2. Pro Ensembles (No more starting from scratch) We’ve spent weeks building high-level templates for complex setups: Symphony Orchestras, Big Bands, and Wind Ensembles. We want you to be able to map out a 60-piece orchestra in minutes, not hours.
3. Advanced Routing & Clean Exports For the power users, we’re adding one-click routing resets and visibility filters to manage high-channel counts without the clutter. Plus, 100% clean exports (PDF, XLSX, CSV) with zero watermarksfor your official riders.
The Roadmap: We are currently in the final "stress test" phase. We’ve given early Premium access to a select group of professional engineers and musicians to get their brutal, honest feedback before we open the payment system to everyone.
The EIN is arriving in about 10 days, and that’s when we’ll flip the switch.
If you’ve been using the free version, keep an eye on your inbox—I’m sending out some "Early Adopter" gifts this week to thank you for helping us build this.
What’s the one feature you feel is missing from your current stage plot tool? Let me know in the comments.
