Ever feel like you are doing the love bombing?

Family & Social Life

First order of business: for anyone who commented on my strawberry quilt post from a couple weeks ago: I ❤️ you. I didnt respond to everyone because it totally freaked me out and made me want to hide under a blanket. Sorry. If you had a specific question please DM me so I dont shrivel up and die trying to answer you on the post.

Today 's question: when you meet a new potential friend do you find yourself love bombing? I (54F) have loads of acquaintances but no close friends (by design). However I have met a few women who i felt a quick connection with, took steps to nurture a budding friendship, within a few weeks to a month realized WHOA I ROYALLY FUCKED UP HERE, then began the process of extricating myself.

When I say "took steps to nurture" it was phone conversations, time spent actually together, doing small things for them (I bought one a personalized notebook, made a binder for the other one's sourdough business). My love language (or is it ADHD symptom?) is acts of service and goddddddd i can really go overboard.

Each of these times I have picked the WRONGGGGG person too. And I consider myself an excellent judge of character!

And then I damn near ghost them. The sourdough friend is actually my neighbor and she is a giant narcissist so I haven't been able to fully jettison her but I backed off so hard that she mostly replaced me (hallelujah) with her next victim. The other is a very two-faced coworker who backstabs everyone and I am cordial but never offered an explanation nor do I engage more than I have to.

I'd love to hear your own experiences.
