Been switching careers and kept stumbling on behavioral questions. "Tell me about a time you failed." "How do you handle conflict?" You know the ones — and they hit differently when your experience doesn't perfectly match the role.

After a lot of prep, here's what actually works:

**The STAR method** — Situation → Task → Action → Result. Sounds basic, but most people skip the Result or keep it vague. Make it specific. Use numbers if you can.

If STAR feels too long, try **CAR** — Context → Action → Result. Faster and just as effective. Aim for 2 minutes per answer.

A few questions I found especially tricky as a career switcher:

**"Walk me through your resume"** — Don't just list jobs. Show a logical progression of decisions. Emphasize transferable skills.

**"What's your weakness?"** — Don't fake it. Pick a real one that's the flip side of a strength. ("I go deep on detail, which sometimes slows me down.")

**"Tell me about a conflict"** — Focus on YOUR role and the lesson, not the drama.

Interviewers aren't looking for perfect. They're looking for self-awareness and adaptability — which career switchers often have more of than they realize.
