The Disney/Hulu/Max bundle is literally just cable again.
Have you guys seen the aggressive marketing for the new mega-bundle combining Disney+, Hulu, and Max? For $30 a month, you get all three services in one centralized app interface, managed by a single billing provider. It is highly convenient, but we need to take a massive step back and look at what is happening here. Media conglomerates are grouping disparate networks together, forcing you to buy them in a package deal, and delivering them through a unified electronic programming guide. Congratulations everyone, we have officially reinvented the cable TV bundle, we are just delivering it over Wi-Fi instead of coaxial wire. This is exactly what we tried to escape a decade ago. It starts out as a great deal, but once they lock in enough subscribers and train us to rely on the unified interface, they will slowly start hiking the price of the bundle by $3 every year until we are right back to paying $100 a month. Are you guys actually buying into these mega-bundles, or keeping your subscriptions separate so you can easily cancel them?
