Query regarding Activating cruise control

I spoke to one of the service advisors in Kia about activating cruise control. He says there's a definite risk of damaging steering angle sensor because we are opening the airbag module and changing the orientation of the clock spring . Wanted advise from people who have changed it and whether they have encountered any issue?
