Driving instructor left me on read
Hi!
I wouldn’t normally post anything like this but i just wanted to rant a bit…
So, I did around a year’s worth of driving lessons with my old instructor 2 years ago (manual) and unfortunately failed my test for speeding (34 in a 30) and then took a break.
In January, I began learning again with a new instructor (automatic) and since then we have been doing 4 hours of lessons a week (2 2 hour lessons for £150). I planned on doing 2 hours a week as i hoped to get a near cancellation and be done with it, but he persuaded me into 4 hours a week.
I am at a point where my lessons are 100% self driving with just my instructor telling me the directions or practicing manoeuvres, and any silly mistakes usually happen near the end of the 2 hours, but they are easily fixable (i.e. too close to a parked car) and not an issue when i have my next lesson.
I’ve recently come to the conclusion that if i am to get a cancellation it will most likely be around June time as no earlier ones pop up for me on Testi, so i asked if we could go down to 1 hour a week as i feel as if i’m test ready and definitely do not need 4 hours a week.
He has now left my message on read and i’m anxious because i don’t want to have to find a new instructor when i’m incredibly comfortable driving his car and it might knock my confidence down starting fresh.
I understand it’s his business and he needs to make money but i feel like 1) he definitely has been taking advantage of the hours i ‘need’ and 2) he shouldn’t leave my message on read as a reliable customer of his.
I don’t really know exactly what i’m asking but i kind of just wanted to rant as it’s quite frustrating. I have full faith in myself that i could pass my test if i had it today, so i don’t think cutting down to one hour a week is unreasonable (especially as i’m a uni student and have spent all my savings on driving now).
