Teaching in Orlando Area

Hi, I have been teaching biology and environmental science for 10 years, half in NYC and half in the suburbs of Massachusetts. My wife (a nurse) and I are thinking about relocating to Florida because the area appeals to our lifestyle in a lot of ways. I was wondering if anyone has made the move and started teaching in central Florida and if so how it went.

I think my biggest concern is I don’t quite understand how anyone survives off a teacher salary down there. No need to talk about the weather or humidity or anything like that (we understand the climate). Just looking for insight on the teaching conditions and how you make ends meet. Thank you in advance!
