[CachyOS Linux] game stuck in 720p

for some reason the game suddenly started forcing itself to 720p on the wrong monitor, changing the monitors was simple enough but the game refuses to go above 720p, switching to proton isn't an option since proton isn't vac allowed. this started happening literally yesterday and up until then the game worked perfectly fine. any ideas?
