YouTube TV just bumped the base plan to $82.99.
Starting the next billing cycle, the base plan is jumping from $72.99 to an unbelievable $82.99 a month. When I originally signed up for this service back in 2018, it was heavily marketed as the ultimate $35 cable killer. Now, it is literally just cable with a different user interface.
Google blames the escalating broadcast fees and forced network bundles, but at what point do we just admit the entire virtual live TV experiment has failed? We cut the cord to escape the bloated $100+ cable packages that forced us to pay for 60 channels we never watch, and now YouTube TV is doing the exact same thing to subsidize their massive NFL Sunday Ticket contract.
If you aren't a die-hard sports fan, you are essentially subsidizing the sports channels for everyone else. I am seriously considering canceling live TV entirely, buying a digital antenna for the local news, and just relying on next-day Hulu drops. Is anyone else finally jumping ship at $83?
