Narcissistic mother loves to praise herself but never lives up to it

27F, just had a baby one month ago. My mom (53F) loves to boast to everyone that, quote, she is a ‘never seen before grandma’. That she does and will do anything for us.

Kept pestering me to come and help with the baby. I kept rejecting her until today me and my husband broke down because we are really exhausted and asked her if she can come help on Tuesday.

Guess what? No can do, she’s busy aaaallll week, morning, noon and evening. But she can come help tomorrow for two hours in the morning. But also needs me to stay awake for those hours to show her how to care for baby and take pictures of them both. So basically I would still be doing all the work AND taking pictures of them.

I’m better off without help, I regret even asking.
